Mark van Hartesvelt

Mark is a founding partner of GCommerce. A 30-year veteran, Mark is recognized as an industry leader and innovator in marketing and operations in the hotel, resort, casino and real estate industries. He is a former adjunct professor at Boston University and the University of Denver. He co-authored one of the hotel industry’s classic textbooks and is a frequent speaker at industry conferences on future trends, marketing and revenue optimization and operations. He is a current and past board member of a number of public and private corporations.

Mark was a co-founder of Gemstone Hotels & Resorts, a boutique management company specializing in independent, luxury hotels and resorts, where he served as a co-managing partner from 1994 until 2008. Gemstone grew to be ranked one of the top 20 management companies in the U.S., opening or completely repositioning such well-known properties as the Hotel ZaZa in Dallas and Houston, the Mosaic hotel in Beverly Hills, the Hotel Sax in Chicago and Westward Look Resort in Tucson.
